As at 31 December 2017, the transitional period for the BASIX energy targets will cease. After this date, the lower pre-July 2017 targets will no longer be available and all new homes and units will be subject to the energy targets introduced on 1 July 2017.

Projects that have been granted access to the pre-July targets on the basis that there is a pre-contract agreement in place will need to finalise and sign a qualifying building contract no later than 31 December 2017 to be eligible to use the lower pre-July targets.
Only those projects with a valid ‘pre-July’ certificate lodged with the consent authority, or subject to an existing DA or CDC, can be revised using the pre-July targets.
